VOLVO ELECTRIC TRUCK LAUNCH | “DRIVING THE CHANGE”
A sensory-powered brand launch that redefined what electric feels like.

THE SETUP
Volvo Trucks was preparing to unveil its first line of electric heavy-duty vehicles in the Middle East marking a bold step toward their global commitment to sustainability. This wasn’t just a product launch. It was a strategic signal: Volvo was entering the region’s innovation space with silent power and sustainable performance.

THE CHALLENGE
How do you launch an electric truck in a way that’s as powerful as the machine itself without relying on sound, speed, or smoke?
We needed to create an experience that captured energy without noise, force without fuel, and excitement without emissions while still feeling authentically Volvo.

THE IDEA
“Driving the Change” was designed as a multi-sensory journey through light, reflection, and motion. Guests were invited into a futuristic mirror maze where energy lines pulsed beneath their feet, leading them to a dramatic reveal.
We used light as a metaphor for electric power and built a space that felt alive with the unseen force of the truck itself.

HOW IT WORKED
Created a full mirror installation with programmed lighting, holographic projections, and spatial sound

Designed a digital floor installation that reacted to guest movement representing the flow of electric energy beneath the surface
Developed a sequential reveal: guests walked through a series of light frames and reflective corridors, with sound rising as they approached the center
At the heart of the maze, the electric truck was revealed in a glowing sea of energy lines, pulsing with every beat of the music
Used sustainable staging materials and modular structures for easy transport and reusability

WHAT I BROUGHT
Creative Concept Lead | Spatial Design | Client-Facing Strategy

Led the full creative concept and narrative development: from “Driving the Change” tagline to spatial choreography

Presented concepts and vision directly to Volvo stakeholders and production partners
Directed the overall design of the immersive journey from lighting logic to reflective structures
Collaborated closely with engineers and AV teams to execute timed light and sound sequences
Aligned all creative elements with Volvo’s global sustainability goals and brand aesthetics

SHOW IT HOLDS UP
Delivered a high-impact reveal that worked across different guest flows and presentation times

Designed for both in-person impact and press coverage, resulting in compelling visuals and social conten
Experience was modular, allowing for potential roadshow reuse in other regional markets

SHOW IT FLEXES
The core concept “energy as light” can be adapted to other Volvo launches, showroom formats, or even in-vehicle AR content

The mirror maze could evolve into a traveling exhibition or brand pavilion
The digital floor interaction could be scaled into an interactive EV education experience for Volvo Future Hubs

WHY IT MATTERED
We gave Volvo’s electric story a sensory signature.
This wasn’t just about showcasing a vehicle it was about introducing a new way of moving.
We designed an emotional entry point to electric innovation: one that people could see, hear, and feel.

WHAT’S NEXT / WHAT I LEARNED
In sustainability storytelling, stillness can be powerful.
This project reminded me that innovation doesn’t have to shout it can whisper with impact.
It’s about designing with intention, using technology not just to impress, but to connect.
