CONNECTING MENA’S FUTURE
Bringing a digital infrastructure brand to life through immersive stand design and interactive storytelling.
THE SETUP
At Capacity Middle East / Datacloud MENA 2023 in Dubai the region’s premier telecom and digital infrastructure summit Datamena launched as the carrier-neutral digital hub anchoring the UAE-IX ecosystem. With telecom leaders, cloud providers, content networks, and hyperscalers attending, their stand needed to position Datamena as the backbone of MENA’s future interconnect and digital capacity.
THE CHALLENGE
How do you make infrastructure usually invisible and complex feel tangible, strategic, and inspiring? Datamena wanted a brand presence that conveyed connectivity, scale, and reliability, and that invited conversation, exploration, and strategic insight from highly technical attendees.
THE IDEA
We designed an experiential stand called “The Data Nexus.”
It translated dense infrastructure into human stories instantly understandable zones that reflected fiber routes, cloud interconnect, and regional data exchange in sensory, visual, and interactive ways.
HOW IT WORKED
Designed a modular stand layout featuring:
Data topology maps
Live peering visualizations
Interactive dashboards
Integrated interactive touchscreens allowing attendees to explore UAE‑IX metrics, link partners, and peering speed comparisons bringing connections to life.
Used real-time visuals and branded lighting to show density patterns, cloud peering layers, and node connectivity making the invisible visible.
Structured branded zones: Local Connect, Global Exchange, Future Capacity, Sustainability, each telling a layer of Datamena’s ecosystem story.
WHAT I BROUGHT
Creative Concept Lead | Stand Design | Digital Storytelling | UX/Brand Interaction
Led pitch concept to execution shaping the experiential vision across visuals, layout, and messaging
Designed strategic zones reflecting Datamena’s ecosystem: UAE‑IX, carrier partners, hyperscale hubs
Created interactive content for live use: UX flows, data dashboards, peering locators, cloud partner maps
Collaborated with brand, clients, and event production teams to deliver lighting, AV, and digital interactions that felt seamless and intuitive
SHOW IT HOLDS UP
Delivered across 3 days of high traffic, with zero downtime across interactive screens
Interactions ranged from quick data lookups to deep brand discussions, appealing to both technical and executive visitors
The stand became a hub for engagement—many attendees returned multiple times to navigate different data layers
SHOW IT FLEXES
Designed to modularly scale for future telecom or data center trade events
Interactive dashboards and visual systems are ready for adaptation into:
Web experiences
Sales kiosks
Executive briefings
Story zones could easily evolve to include AI infrastructure, edge compute, or regional sustainability stories
WHY IT MATTERED
We turned abstract network infrastructure into a tactile brand experience.
Attendees didn’t just hear about Datamena they understood its value.
We made peering economics and global data flows feel immediate, local, and future-facing.
WHAT’S NEXT / WHAT I LEARNED
This project taught me that tech moves fastest when it’s visual. Infrastructure doesn’t have to feel distant it can feel immediate.
By designing for clarity, we built a stand that sparked questions, partnership conversations, and strategic alignment all without overwhelming jargon.
