SITUATION
As Chelsea FC prepared to unveil a new player transfer, they approached our team to design a bold and engaging marketing campaign that would reflect the club’s evolving identity and connect more deeply with fans across digital platforms.
The club was undergoing a visual and strategic transformation aiming to position itself as not just a football powerhouse, but a global lifestyle brand.
The creative direction had to embody the following traits:
Ambitious | Courageous | Engaging | Intense | Confident | Premium

CHALLENGE
Design a multi-channel campaign that would tease the transfer and energize Chelsea’s community without revealing the player’s identity too early.
The campaign needed to be:
• Visually aligned with the new Chelsea brand identity
• Built to perform across search, social, and email marketing
• Youthful, viral, and sharable — encouraging engagement and speculation

SOLUTION
I created two digital-first campaign concepts:
• #GUESSWHO – a teaser campaign driven by mystery, silhouettes, and cultural clues to fuel fan speculation
• #JOINCHELSEA – a follow-up reveal campaign celebrating the player’s identity and inviting fans to connect with the club through membership and content

Key Deliverables
• Bold, high-contrast visual assets optimized for Instagram, Twitter, YouTube thumbnails, and Facebook
• Email headers and banners for CRM campaigns
• Paid ad mockups for Meta and Google Display
• Story templates and motion references to amplify engagement
• Website redesign

The design approach was intense and cinematic, using dramatic lighting, cropped details, and visual tension to tease the identity without giving it away. The aesthetic leaned premium, merging sport and lifestyle culture.
OUTCOME
⚠️ While the player transfer deal was ultimately canceled one week before the official announcement, this campaign still served as a valuable exercise in creative agility and brand alignment. It was not published, but remains a strong conceptual case of visual storytelling and cross-channel thinking.
WHAT I LEARNED
• Working with ambiguity: When transfers are secretive, designing with constraints becomes a creative advantage.
• Lifestyle branding for sports: Clubs like Chelsea are no longer just teams they’re lifestyle platforms, and that changes how we design for them.
• Agility in delivery: The fast-paced nature of football marketing demands rapid iteration, approval processes, and adaptability.
