NATURE IN MOTION

Client: Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) / Saudi Cycling Federation
Location:
AlUla, Saudi Arabia
Role:
Creative Director & Experience Designer

SITUATION
The AlUla Tour was evolving from a prestigious cycling race into a global cultural platform aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Beyond logistics and competition, the client sought a bold creative vision that could position AlUla as a world-class destination for sport, culture, and lifestyle while respecting its extraordinary natural and heritage context.
The challenge was to design an experience that felt international, contemporary, and media-driven, yet deeply rooted in AlUla’s landscapes, identity, and values.

TASK
To develop a compelling creative concept and experiential masterplan that transformed the AlUla Tour into a designed brand experience — not just a sporting event.
The brief required a clear narrative, distinctive visual identity, immersive guest journey, and scalable activation system that could elevate broadcast impact, audience engagement, and sponsor value.

ACTION
I led the creative direction and experience design, shaping the overarching concept “Nature in Motion.”
This vision translated the rhythm of cycling into a visual and spatial language inspired by dunes, wind, endurance, and flow.
The work spanned:

 •    Creative storytelling and narrative development
    •    Visual identity and environmental branding systems
    •    Start/finish lines, podiums, and hero broadcast moments
    •    Guest experience journeys across Heritage Village, Camel Cup Venue, and race zones
    •    Wellness, lifestyle, and community activations extending beyond the pro peloton
Every element was designed to be modular, sustainable, and visually powerful in daylight and broadcast contexts ensuring cultural authenticity and global relevance.

RESULT
The proposal presented a cohesive, future-forward vision positioning the AlUla Tour as a global benchmark for destination-led sports events.
It reframed the race as a cinematic journey where endurance, heritage, innovation, and lifestyle converge into a unified brand experience.

THE PROPOSAL DEMONSTRATED

•    A clear creative narrative aligned with AlUla’s identity and Vision 2030
    •    Strong differentiation from traditional cycling tours
    •    High broadcast and media value through iconic visual moments
    •    Scalable sponsorship and lifestyle integration opportunities
    •    A sustainable, modular approach to large-scale event design

IMPACT & TAKEAWAYS
